The Bastrop Chamber of Commerce is requesting the attendance of our membership and community at the special meeting of the Lost Pines Groundwater Conservation District on Wednesday, April 29 at 6pm at City Hall. The city of Bastrop will face an important hurdle at this meeting in its quest to pump groundwater to help sustain its long-term water supply for our community.
For almost a year, the city has been trying to acquire a permit from the groundwater district, which regulates water in Bastrop and Lee counties, to extract 2,000 acre feet of water from a well on the XS Ranch property for municipal purposes in the city's service area. XS Ranch is an almost 9,000 acre planned residential development just north of Bastrop.
