Lone Star Regional Rail - Public Open House Meeting

The Lone Star Rail District, Texas Department of Transportation, and Federal Highway Administration are holding a series of meetings to start the environmental review process for the Lone Star Regional Rail Project, which is proposed to improve mobility, mode choice, accessibility, transportation reliability and facilitate economic development along the I-35 corridor in Central and South Texas. One option to be studied could provide passenger rail service from north of Austin to downtown San Antonio within existing freight rail corridors, while moving some existing freight train service to a new freight bypass constructed between Taylor and San Antonio.
