Bastrop Main Street Community Clean Up!

The City of Bastrop Main Street program, is excited to announce plans for an upcoming community wide downtown cleanup. The event will take place on Saturday, October 8^th beginning at 7:30 a.m., organizers anticipate wrapping up no later than noon.  Registration will begin at 7 a.m. in front of 921 Main Street.

Downtown Bastrop hosts thousands of visitors every fall during the busy event season, so event organizers are excited to spruce up the downtown district before these special guests arrive. The Veteran’s Day Car Show and Lost Pines Christmas are just around the corner and always bring thousands of additional guests to Bastrop. “Downtown Bastrop is the centerpiece to our tourism industry, we want to ensure that everyone has the best impression possible of our historically hip downtown area,” said O’Brien.
Organizers are currently seeking corporate partners to assist with supplies. Items needed are: window and sidewalk cleaning supplies, paper towels, gloves, buckets, brooms and trashbags.  Anyone wishing to donate cleaning supplies, may contact the City of Bastrop Main Street Program at 512-332-8996.  Donors will receive special recognition on www.bastropdowntown.com. Water is being provided by Bastrop Power & Light. “Special thanks to Progressive and the City of Bastrop for helping to facilitate this effort, by providing the roll off dumpster” said O’Brien.

Anyone wishing to give back to their community may sign up to volunteer for a few hours. Individuals, businesses, youth groups, churches and other groups or teams may contact the City of Bastrop Main Street Program to register for the event by visiting www.bastropdowntown.com/events. Advance registration is recommended but not necessary. Individuals and teams will meet downtown at 7:000 a.m. in front of 921 Main Street for breakfast provided by the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines. “We will have something for everyone to do, from window cleaning, organizing storage needs, beautification projects and litter pickup,” said Terry Moore, Main Street Promotions Chair.  After breakfast volunteers will be given task assignments and supplies to complete their efforts. “We hope this we can make this event happen on a regular basis,” said Moore.
