SUMMARY:Trick or Treat Trail
DESCRIPTION:The Bastrop YMCA\, Bastrop Ministerial Alliance and the City of Bastrop- Parks & Recreation\, Public Library and Main Street Program have teamed up to bring the inaugural Trick or Treat Trail to the downtown district. The annual event will take the place of Halloween Fest and will provide opportunities for thousands of children to trick or treat\, enjoy carnival games and activities\, dress in their Halloween best and much more. "We are so excited to be able to continue the tradition of providing a family friendly Halloween event in downtown Bastrop\," said Terry Moore\, executive Director of the Bastrop YMCA. Previously Halloween Fest had been coordinated by the Downtown Business Alliance and the Bastrop Opera House. "It is great for a group like this to come together for the children of our community\, we are excited to be able to partner with the City of Bastrop Parks Department\, Bastrop Public Library\, the Bastrop Main Street Program and the Ministerial Alliance to create this new event\, that is sure to be a hit\," said Moore. \n\n\n\nTrick or Treat Trail is set for Monday\, October 31st from 5 to 8 p.m. This year's event will take on a different set up then previous downtown Halloween events. The Trail will begin at the Bastrop Public Library\, 1100 Church Street and will feature activities all the way down to Fisherman's Park. "The Bastrop Main Street program realizes how street closures impact our businesses\, and we think this new event layout is going to please our downtown business\, residents and most importantly our event attendees\, as well as keep public safety at the forefront" said Main Street Program Director Sarah O'Brien. New to this year's event the Ministerial Alliance will feature a variety of children's activities at the Bastrop Christian Church. Attendees will have the opportunity to trick or treat with numerous Bastrop Businesses along the trail and end the evening in Fisherman's Park. \n\n\n\nAmple parking is available for attendees in historic downtown Bastrop at any of the public parking lots. If you are interested in being a vendor at this event\, you may download a vendor form online at www.bastropdowntown.com/events.
