DESCRIPTION:The Bastrop Museum & Visitor Center is proud to announce a special event honoring Indigenous Peoples' Day: We All Stay Together. Join us for a day of celebration and education recognizing the rich heritage and contributions of Indigenous communities.\n\n\n\nThis free event will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and will feature a variety of activities suitable for all ages\, including guest speakers\, artifact displays\, performances\, music\, and children's activities. Guests include: Bob O'Dell and Dave Cunningham speaking about the Tonkawa return to Central Texas including their purchase of their sacred ground in Milam County. "Thunderstar Drum Singers" performing traditional Lakota Ceremony songs The Blue Star Sundance Chief and Josh Parker talking about the customs and meanings of ceremony Libre Roche speaking about the Texas Tribal Buffalo Project of the Lipan Apache (check out their website a www.texastribalbuffaloproject.org ) Curtis A. Hodge\, a Cherokee/Coushatta descendant displaying his collection of Indian artifacts\, including paleo spearpoints\, beads\, pipes\, and more. All artifacts are from East/Central Texas.\n\n\n\nThe Bastrop Museum & Visitor Center encourages community members of all ages to attend this free event and participate in the various activities offered throughout the day.
